Labor Day Monday: who’s open and who’s closed
A same-day read for Mon Sep 7 — closed counters first, then the shops that still print Monday hours.

Labor Day Monday is the day a lot of people assume every bakery is closed, and that is only half true in Portland. A few counters we send people to all week really do take the day off, and a longer list still prints Monday hours with no Labor Day exception on the pages they control — so treat this as a same-day map, not a promise that the case will look like Saturday.
Start with the closed doors, because that is where the disappointment lives. Bakeshop on Sandy is walk-in Wednesday through Sunday only, so Monday is closed all day, and the Labor Day pie pickup window was Saturday and Sunday — not a Monday cart. Baker & Spice in Hillsdale is Wednesday through Sunday on their own site, so that westside country loaf is not a Labor Day morning errand. Berlu’s Belmont hours are Thursday through Sunday, Fleur De Lis in Hollywood prints Monday closed, and Café Olli on MLK is Thursday through Sunday brunch (and Thursday through Saturday dinner) with no Monday hours on their site. If those were the stops you had in mind, rearrange the day before you leave the house.
A few places are still worth the drive if you want something fried, laminated, or naturally leavened. Doe Donuts is the clearest holiday call on this list: they post Labor Day hours of 8am to 4pm on their own site, which is the exception you can actually cite. Ken’s on 21st prints open every day from 8am to 4pm with no Labor Day closure found, and Little T on Division posts daily 8am to 2pm without landing on their holiday close list. Twisted Croissant still shows Monday hours by location — Broadway Monday through Friday 7 to 5, Sellwood daily 8 to 4, Northwest daily 7 to 5 — and St. Honoré keeps daily hours by shop with no Labor Day exception found either.
If pie or a mixed case is the errand, Lauretta Jean’s on Division prints Monday 11am to 9pm, Petunia’s downtown posts daily 9am to 4pm, and Sweetpea on Stark shows Monday through Sunday 9am to 3pm, none of them with a Labor Day closure on the page we checked. Grand Central’s weekday cafes still look like a roughly 7am to 4pm weekday pattern, Dos Hermanos posts daily 7am to 4pm, New Cascadia prints Monday 8am to 2pm, Artisserie on Northwest 23rd shows Monday 9:30am to 5pm, and Kirari West posts daily 9am to 6pm — again, normal Monday schedules where we did not find a holiday override. Tabor Bread prints café and shop open daily from 8am to 3pm on their own site with no Labor Day exception found, so the country loaf is still a Monday option if you get there while the rack holds.
Pix is a late case and advance-order story more than a normal Monday counter — the Pix-O-Matic runs most hours, but the staffed room is not a Monday brunch stop. Nuvrei’s Pearl room is gone; if you want the kouign, use the current Harvey Milk address and confirm Monday there. For the shops above that are open, the fair sentence is that they print Monday hours and we did not find a Labor Day closure on the page they control — hours change, so glance at the shop site before you cross town.
