Editorial policy
How anything gets on this site, and how money never buys a list.
We only print hours, addresses, and vegan or gluten-free claims from pages the shop controls, and we say where we got them. If we have not checked hours in sixty days, we tell you to call first.
We do not take the order — no cart, no delivery, no phone-ahead from this site — so you go to the shop’s own door and their own checkout.
We do not scrape Yelp or Google, and we do not run stars. A Journal visit is us, in person, dated. A Story, when we have one, is an on-the-record conversation with a name and a role.
Editorial picks are not for sale. Featured means we would send you there, and the bakery knows why. If someone pays, the unit says Paid or Supported by in the same size as the words around it. Partners never buy a list, a ranking, or a Story.
Someone sends a shop, or we find it. We file Portland first, and metro only when it is worth the drive, under the real city name — never a fake neighborhood. Add Your Bakery is a request, and a listing is not automatic.
A bakery gets featured when we would send you there and we can say why in one specific line, and the bakery is told.
A bakery comes off when it is closed, moved with no door we can verify, not somewhere we would send you, or carrying a dietary claim we cannot source. We take it off and say so on the corrections log when that page exists.
If something is wrong, write us with what is off and a source if you have one. We reply within five business days, and until the public corrections log ships, Contact is the path.
We will not invent hours, prices, ownership, vegan or gluten-free status, awards, opening dates, or quotes without a name and a role.
