About

We made PortlandBread because we wanted one place to look before leaving the house. Each page tells you where the bakery is and what to order, and whether the kitchen is actually safe for you if you're vegan or can't eat gluten. You can't order anything here, and nobody is climbing a ranking.

It's only Portland for now, and if people here don't end up using it, we won't build one for another city. We started with bread because that's what we go out for most, whether it's a loaf, a croissant or a bakery that opens at eight on Saturday, and we cover pastry, cake, cupcake and doughnut shops too.

Nothing here is for sale

If a bakery is on a list here, it's because we'd send you there. Nobody can buy a spot on a list, a ranking or a Story, and you won't see banner ads on the site. If a partnership ever shows up, it'll be marked Paid or Supported by in the same size type as the words around it, and it still won't buy anyone a place on a list.
