Tipping the Scales: vegan croissants and cinnamon buns, no street shop

A vegan bakery with a Forest Grove P.O. box. No street door. Call to order.

We have been looking for a vegan croissant that was not a rumor, and we FINALLY found a bakery that puts croissants AND cinnamon buns on the same official board: Tipping the Scales Vegan Bakery, Forest Grove, all about vegan, all about making tasty treats! The site says vegan bakery on every page we opened. They love animals and none were harmed in the baking. They want vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores to say “This is vegan? Really?!” We do not name an owner. We do not name a founding year. We do not name a farmers market. Official pages do not.

HERE is the first thing you have to get right if you are going to use this listing. The official address is P.O. Box 602, Forest Grove, Oregon 97116. Phone is (971) 207-6884. There is no street kitchen on the site. There are no walk-in hours. The Weebly store has shown croissants and cinnamon buns as Unavailable, which is why this is a CALL bakery, not a walk-up window. Contact them with what you want, how many people, when you need it, your phone, and an approximate location. They will tell you pickup and delivery.

The pastry we came for is the croissant. Official tasty-treats copy calls it the French patisserie standard with a plot twist from across the pond. Plain starts at $5. Chocolate filled is $7. Maple swirls $7. Almond $8. Garlic. Then the savory ones: bacun and cheeze; bacun, Just Egg, and cheeze with BeHive bacun; ham (Tofurkey) and cheeze. Those meat-and-cheese words are vegan kitchen names. Do not lecture the baker.

The cinnamon bun is the other reason we are here. A generous swirl, cinnamon gooey-ness, orange icing, $5. Walnut strictly sticky buns if you want sticky. Caramel pull-a-part if you want their monkey-bread version. Soft pretzels go big and bold: plain, salt, sweet with sticky-bun glaze, cheezy, everything, plus ranch or mustard or marinara. Pretzel pockets if you are actually hungry. Colossal cookies: chocolate chip, double chocolate, peanut butter, snickerdoodles, the Smatch mash-up, cherry oatmeal, ginger molasses. Scones: blueberry, chocolate chip, cherry almond, glazed lemon poppyseed. Mini banana bread. Coffee cake squares. Double chocolatey brownies, including a red velvet with Cultured Kindness cashew cream cheese baked in. Classic biscuits. Red Bay biscuits. Garlic dill focaccia.

Party platters exist if you are feeding a table: cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, coffee cake, banana bread, scones, biscuits, croissants, cookies. The cakes page says “Cakes for Any Occasion” and then lists ZERO flavors. We are not inventing a wedding cake from a heading.

We keep coming back because a vegan bakery that will laminate a croissant AND ice a cinnamon bun is the gap a lot of Portland lists skip. Take the croissant. Take the cinnamon bun with the orange icing. Call first. Then get out before you publish a street address or a market name their own site never wrote!
