Sinful Confections: gluten-free, dairy-free cake on Barbur
Julie's Multnomah shop is gluten-free and dairy-free. Mostly vegan, not fully vegan. Order the cake five days out.

We have been treating Southwest Barbur like a corridor instead of a cake errand, and we FINALLY stopped at 9053 Southwest Barbur for the one product Sinful Confections will let us shout about: an 8-inch 2-layer cake that is 100% gluten-free, 100% dairy-free, and 100% completely vegan, with a five-day minimum so you cannot treat a birthday like a whim! Julie is the owner and founder. The shop is family-owned, a stay-at-home-mom story that went from farmers markets to this first storefront. Husband is behind the scenes and the official #1 taste tester. We do not invent a last name or a founding year. “Nearly 10 years” is not a date.
The first sentence you need is the one Julie prints: Sinful Confections is a 100% gluten-free and 100% dairy-free bakery in Southwest Portland, and MOST of what they create is also vegan. They are NOT a strictly vegan bakery. They label products so you can choose. We are filing this in Multnomah, which is its own neighborhood, not a cute way of saying South Portland.
The cake is the order. The 8-inch 2-layer feeds 12 to 16 and they want five days. The 6-inch and 10-inch 2-layer cakes carry the same ingredient statement: no gluten, no dairy, 100% vegan, egg-free. Other allergens depend on the flavors and add-ons. They are not a certified nut-free facility. If you need a cake for Tuesday, you should have called last week.
The case is a different sentence. “From Our Case — READY NOW” is cookies, cupcakes, bars, brownies, hand pies, coffee cake, dough bites, sandwiches, and they say all gluten-free, dairy-free, and MOSTLY vegan. We can see names like blueberry crumble pie bar, birthday cake loaded cookie, chocolate peanut butter brownie, bacon-egg-and-cheese sandwich, chicken comfort hand pie. We are NOT calling those vegan. Savory names might be house dairy-free recipes or they might include egg. The case stays mostly vegan. The 2-layer cake is the order.
Hours: Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closed Sunday and Monday. Closed major holidays. Do not invent a Sunday afternoon window. Order online to reserve. Same-day pickup while treats last. DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub exist. They do not ship yet. Late pickup: call 971-336-1195 and they try to hold it the same day.
We keep coming back because a dedicated gluten-free, dairy-free cake you can actually call vegan is hard to find, and a directory that vegan-labels the whole case would be lying. Take the 2-layer cake, five days out. Read the labels on anything you grab from the case. Then get out before you tell someone the bakery is fully vegan and make Julie’s most careful sentence disappear!
